Environmental Excellence
Pine Tree Acres employs proven technologies that meet or exceed federal and state standards governing design, construction and facility operation.
Construction of a landfill liner system costs approximately $500,000 per acre. This does not include daily operating nor ongoing environmental regulatory expenses.
The Environmental Monitoring Program consist of 17 groundwater monitoring wells, five surface water monitoring points, and 17 gas monitoring probes. All locations are monitored by an independent third party a minimum of once per quarter. The results are reported to MDEQ http://www.michigan.gov/deq .
These design technologies, coupled with strict internal operating procedures, result in a waste disposal process that is protective of the environment and surrounding community.
A Thiopaq system removes sulfur from the landfill gas and converts it into an elemental sulfur that can be used as an agriculture amendment.
All of these measures are designed to preserve and protect our natural environment.
